Anxiety
Anxiety can be debilitating
At some level, all of us experience anxiety at different stages of life. It can often be circumstantial anxiety from feeling discontented with life situation, concerned that something bad will happen, being out of control, or a feeling of not coping well with uncertainty. Anxiety is a normal feeling for many, and a normal sign of being human, but for many anxiety has become a controlling force in their life, one that can negatively affect so many aspects of a person’s life. In fact anxiety has taken over from depression as the number one cause of teens seeking mental health help.
Symptoms
Anxiety is fear and worry that can literally take control of a person’s life. One may become paralysed by the anxiety to a point that life is adversely affected, this could result in avoidance of situations or people, increased fears or phobias or even obsessive-compulsive disorder. But anxiety does not have to control your life there are ways of accepting and managing anxiety.
Treatment
Hypnotherapy is a proven method for helping with anxiety and anxiety disorders. It is a positive, gentle and safe approach in dealing with anxiety, it can help to alleviate the anxiety and build confidence and increase self-esteem, all resulting in increased well-being with a more positive perspective of life. These tools can help to calm the nerves and the body and 'rewire' in a sense the way we respond to certain situations, people and events. A powerful resource available to us all. When you undergo hypnotherapy you are placed in a deep state of relaxation. In this relaxed state the subconscious mind becomes receptive to positive suggestions, new ideas and different perspectives. A person in hypnosis will receive motivational encouragement, confidence building statements and a direct plan for overcoming their anxiety. The beliefs, behaviours and thinking patterns of the individual will begin to change.
Through hypnosis a person can visualise themselves free from anxiety and is able to feel how wonderful life is without their anxiety this process in itself can have a profound effect, but with the CBT side that I offer and valuable techniques like cognitive defusion, one is more able to see how thoughts influence and dictate our anxiety levels, making lasting changes more accessible.
This powerful technique can help you to focus on the present and regain a calm and a more positive outlook
“ There is good evidence from randomised controlled trials that both hypnosis and relaxation techniques can reduce anxiety, particularly that related to stressful situations such as receiving chemotherapy. They are also effective for panic disorders and insomnia, particularly when integrated into a package of cognitive therapy.”
